Golden Globes 2012: The Hits and Misses

1. Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen

Definitely a hit! Witherspoon looks like she's shed ten years. The red satin dress suits her pretty hourglass figure.

2. Jessica Biel in Elie Saab Couture

There's no denying that the dress is BEAUTIFUL. There's just something about the fit - too much on the shoulders.

3. Livia Firth in Giorgio Armani

Not my favourite dress of the night. A rather flat design. (Do  you know it's made out of recycled plastic bottles?)

4. Mila Kunis in Christian Dior

The girl is gorgeous. She can pull off wearing a sack with that face and body. But why not take more effort?

5. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Sofia Vergara joins the mermaid brigade. The color is absolutely beautiful, but this is a frankly-ridiculously big fishtailed gown.

6. Charlize Theron in Dior

Charlize sits at the first position in the best-dressed list. I have to admit that every little detail in this look is perfect. Love the Cartier headband. She looks like a princess.

7. Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli

Kate wore a strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with delicate sequin embellishment and chiffon pleat around the skirt. It showed off her her to perfection.

8. Sharon Osbourne in Naeem Khan

I think what Sharon had in mind was new fabric for the sofa.

9. Salma Hayek in Gucci

This deco-inspired sping/summer 2012 Gucci gown is a total red carpet success.

9. Busy Phillips in Temperley London

White dress, white hair, white make-up. She looked pale and intimidating.

10. Andie McDowall
This dress is the perfect way to show off her enviable figure. A beautiful shape and gorgeous understated color.

11. Maya Rudolph

Not. Flattering. At. All. The black column gown makes her look twice her usual size. Still, she can take comfort in the fact that if she gets tired she can rest her chin on her ample cleavage.

12. Julie Bowen in vintage Reem Acra

One of the prettiest dresses of the evening, this Reem Acra gown fitted the star to perfection, with the embellished sleeves adding just enough sparkle to her nude chiffon layers.

13. Diane Lane in Reem Acra
A subtle, sparkling red carpet success, saved from looking too pale by her tumbling brown tresses.

14. Debra Messing in Monique Lhullier
A textbook red carpet gown, but it's glamourous, flattering and, teamed with her dark eyes, messy up-do and emerald earrings, a sultry success.

15. Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein

Understated and chic. Klum opted for a pale backless gown which she accessorised with bright blue jewelry
