Dolce and Gabbana Sentenced to Jail

The case against Dolce & Gabbana has come to an end, and it's not what the designers would have hoped. They were found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to prison.

According to WWD, Italian judge Judge Antonella Brambilla has ruled that designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will serve one year and eight months in jail for tax evasion. (That's at least four major fashion seasons).

The prosecution had initially requested that the designers each serve two and a half years, while also requesting time for Domenico’s brother and board member Alfonso Dolce, board member and general director Cristiana Ruella, and finance director Giuseppe Minoni. Dolce & Gabbana’s accountant, Luciano Patelli, may be sentenced to three years as the “main orchestrato of the evasion scheme,” per WWD. Charges stem from the 2004 sale of Dolce & Gabbana brands to the Luxembourg-based company Gado Srl, which prosecutors allege was done for the sole purpose of evading Italian taxes.

Dolce and Gabbana are expected to appeal the decision; the Twitter hashtag #freedolceandgabbana has already taken off

H&M Announces Next Designer Collaboration With Isabel Marant

H&M just released news that their next designer partnership is with French designer Isabel Marant. So the news that Isabel Marant, queen of Parisian haute-boho chic, has joined a roll-call that includes Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Marni, Versace, Lanvin and Martin Margiela puts an official seal on a title she has unofficially held for some time: the Most Influential Woman in Fashion.

The collection - which will feature clothing and accessories for men and women - will arrive in stores on November 14.

"I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honor " Marant said this morning. "I aim to create something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one's own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality."

In the video below you can watch the designer talk about fashion and what she will do for H&M.
